Volunteer Wrangler/Trail Assistant

Responsible for guiding our guests on trails, either on Faith N Friends property or off-property as designated..  You will be expected to provide a safe and enjoyable horseback riding experience for each person on your ride in all kinds of weather.  Must have knowledge of trails, horses, safety and emergency procedures, and a genuine ability to get along with guests and other volunteers.

In addition to guiding rides, you will be expected to participate in all of the duties required to maintain the horses, including catching and leading horses, grooming, and tacking up horses, replacing tack after rides, and mounting and dismounting riders.  

  • Responsible for getting horses prepared for daily programs, which may include grooming and tacking.  
  • Lead trail rides for riders.
  • Ensures riding center facilities and equipment are maintained, in proper condition, and horses are cared for properly.
  • Demonstrable skill in horseback riding, either Western or English, and basic horsemanship skills.
  • Ability to provide verbal instructions to riders on horseback.
  • Assists in moving hay; including the transporting, unloading, and stacking of hay, feed, and bedding.
  • Bringing horses in and turning them out.
  • Operating vehicles and equipment, including but not limited to tractors, small harrow or drag, and small ATV equipment.
  • Loading and unloading hay, feed, and bedding.
