You don’t end horse slaughter by putting money in a kill buyer’s pocket

Faith N Friends doesn’t support kill buyers. We don’t accept horses from kill pens or from people who “bailed” them from kill pens. You shouldn’t either.

The horses “jailed” by kill buyers are intended to pull at your heartstrings. They generally weren’t going to slaughter, they were held out to appeal to the public and to tug at your heartstrings. Starving horses have no meat on them. Pregnant horses are a guaranteed heart-wrencher income. All too often, the people who “bail” these horses don’t have the knowledge or funds to care for them, so they end up turning to legitimate rescues, asking for donors, or, worse yet, selling them to someone who puts them right back in the slaughter pipeline. Or the horse dies. No matter what the fate of the horse, someone just put money in a kill buyer’s pocket. He then goes off and gets two more horses.

We don’t get rid of kill pens by putting money in the kill buyer’s pocket.

If you want to keep horses from going to slaughter – buy them from the auction, buy them from strapped owners on the verge of surrendering, and lobby to make shipping horses for slaughter illegal. Support legitimate rescues so that they can help more horses. Just don’t help Kill Buyers put more in the pipeline.
